Indian Red Lavante Marble

Regal Crimson Intertwined with Glacial Veins

Indian Red Levante Marble (frequently spelled Levante or Levanto) is an intensely bold, theatrical natural stone quarried in India. It is celebrated for its deep, imperial crimson to dark burgundy background. This rich, blood-red canvas is dramatically fractured by a dense, chaotic web of thick, brilliant white and pale pink calcite veins. The stark contrast between the fiery red base and the icy white streaks gives the stone a classic, regal appearance reminiscent of traditional European palaces. Due to its ornate and luxurious personality, it is heavily favored for high-visibility applications like magnificent fireplace surrounds, opulent bathroom powder rooms, and bespoke furniture pieces like statement coffee tables.

Fun Fact

The striking, royal red color of this stone is caused by a high concentration of hematite, a natural iron oxide mineral that infused the stone during its formation millions of years ago. When highly polished, the crimson background reflects light differently than the white calcite veins, giving the surface a distinct, three-dimensional depth that makes the white veins look like they are floating on top of a pool of rich wine!
